site. I didn't know my late grandma Annie Brightbart (nee
Lipman) was from Lodz as WELL as my late granddad Jules. You
also confirm they were first cousins.
I am the eldest
son of the late Saul Marcus (Mark) Brightbart and Pearl (nee
Dolberg). Very interested to see that my dad was named after
his grandfather Mordechai Brajtbart. This spelling of the
family name is also new to me. My brother Gary has a 21 yr
old daughter Emma whilst our younger bro Richard lives in
Munster, Germany. I have a 15 yr old daughter Miriam & 19 yr
old son Sam, who is currently at (Oxford) uni studying
French. I'm 54, divorced & about to remarry after 12 years
of post-divorce life.
I am very
interested about the apparent 'fame' of the Brajtbart family
of strongmen. When we saw the film 'Invincible', loosely
about strongman 'Zisha' Brajtbart, when it premiered at the
Bradford Pictureville in 2001, Jack Brightbart was given a
warm welcome when the cinema manager asked him to stand &
take a bow, as the audience warmly acknowledged Jack as
Zisha's oldest surviving relative! |

My paternal grandfather is number 6 in the "Photo taken in
Israel on the occasion of planting trees in the JNF's
Diaspora Forest, c. late 1950s" photograph. I have been
trying to put together our family tree and found your site
because I did a search for Kreplak. My Kreplak side is on my
mother's side! I did know about Etka Leja Kowalski (nee
Kreplak) but from a different Kreplak researcher and had no
way to connect the families.... yet.
Do you have any other information about her and her
ancestors?

Hi - your site
is wonderful, so informative! I have found some interesting
stuff on there about a family I am researching. I am hunting
down information for a friend's mother, Dwejra Laski/Laska/Lasky
who came from Jedwabne to England in around 1938 at the age
of 10. She left behind a father (Gershon) and, possibly but
she is not quite sure, 10 brothers. I think one
(Moszek/Moshe Laski) was married to Leja Binsztejn, which
would make Moshe and Lea's two children - they are all
listed on your site - cousins to my friend. Leja and her
children perished in the barn burning. I don't know what
happened to Moshe. 2 of the 10 Laski brothers survived the
war, but Dwejra Laski did not have much contact with them. I
believe they are now deceased. I was wondering if you had
any more details, or if you can find another connection to
the Laski family. Dwejra is very elderly now and any detail,
however small will help her. Much much appreciated. |

My paternal
grandmother, Mary Tarachow, was the daughter of Chaim Jankel
Tarakhovskii, son of Shlomo. I had only heard remnants of
family stories as a small child, but was always thrilled
when my father, Dr. Bernhard Kaufman, received letters from
his mother Mary's cousins, Alty and Marie Harris in England.
They even wrote to me which was a double thrill from all the
way across the Atlantic!
This massive undertaking is phenomenal, Saul, and your
website a legacy for all of us, actually.

I am also
looking for any Goldberg born in Riga and arrived to
Brooklyn ; they were living till the WWII. : the sister of
my grandmother (Jenny) born GOLDBERG in Riga and her
children. Their mother was born BERG : Her name was may be "
Emy " ; she came in States between 1900 and 1920 ; she was
married with a man whose name was may be " Hermann " ; she
was living in Brooklyn with her husband and her two or three
children (a girl and a boy who played piano ?). She was used
to write to her sister Jenny Kirschenbaum (my grandmother)
who was living in Strasbourg (France).
My grandmother,
was married with my grandfather Leon Kirschenbaum ; they had
4 children (my mother Frida, my aunt Emy and 2 boys Daniel
and Henry who have been killed during the Holocaust with my
grandmother).
Since the Second World War we do not have any information
about them.
Family names I'm researching : Goldberg, Berg, Gros(s)lerner,
Kirschenbaum,
Kochmann or Korkmann.

found them fascinating. I've often said that genealogy is
fun because it is a mystery story - one in which you are
personally involved - and each history is both unique and

Goodman you have. I am curious to know how far around the
world the family is spread? As you know when my parents
visited England they decided to check to see if there was
any surviving relatives or ones they had never met and by
