Abram's wife and the girls' mother, Sora Fejga Kowalska, is believed to have died in 1917, early in the epidemic of influenza that would follow World War I. A fifth daughter, Brajna Chorazycka, was shot dead in a raid on the family home by Polish soldiers. Abram died of a heart attack a few years after this photo was taken. Gitl moved to New York in 1922, Marjem moved to Montevideo, in the early 1930s, and Yaffe moved to Israel. Etka was killed in the Radzilow pogrom of 7 July 1941.
